Pakistan: no flour crisis in country, says Federal Minister Nazar Gondal

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Nazar Muhammad Gondal has said that there was no flour crisis in the country and termed it as mismanagement at provincial level.

In an interview with a private TV channel (Geo), the federal minister said country was facing no shortage of wheat, adding private sector had enough wheat stock.

Gondal said government had paid no attention to agriculture sector during the last ten years. Gondal said former premier Shaukat Aziz was a technocrat with no understanding of agriculture.

The federal minister said there was shortage of one million tons for which government has decided to import 2.5 million tons of wheat. Two wheat-laden ships have already been arrived at the port and the process would complete by December this year, he said.
