Chennai : Australia A set a 304-run target for India A in the final of the tri-series cricket tournament here Friday.
Put into bat first, Australia recovered from a poor start and piled up 303 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs at the Chepauk.
David Hussey (75) notched up his third consecutive half-century and along with skipper Cameron White (50) added 94 runs for the third wicket in 17.2 overs.
Indian bowlers appeared rather ragged on a docile pitch and the Australians batted sensibly early on before the lower middle-order led by Adam Voges (55 not out) raked up some quick runs in the last 10 overs.
The decision by India to field first came as a bit of a surprise considering the nature of the track that was quite benign requiring the bowlers to bend their backs.
