Srinagar: In the aftermath of the recent bomb blasts in India there has been increasing polarization of the communities. The heightened tension can almost be felt underneath the hustle bustle daily life.
Various social, political religious and secular organizations have called the political dispensation of the country headed by the Prime Minister and also the civil society to intervene in order to stop it as it is not in the national interests.
The recent call has come from Mufti Mohammad Sayeed the patron of People’s Democratic Party.
In a press release issued here he pointed out that the unfair way in which police and agencies have been carrying out the investigation of recent bomb blasts, has created a wrong impression of the whole Muslim community in India. Their unfair branding as “terrorist” must be stopped as it has created terror, sense of insecurity and resentment in them.
Calling for objective judicial inquiry into the acts of terror he also decried the prejudiced pattern of investigation by the investigative agencies which always target the innocent Muslim youth without much evidence.
Extending an important piece of advice for the Indian policy makers to think over he said that remarkably no Muslim from any other state of India was found to be involved in the two decade militancy which engulfed the Jammu and Kashmir.
Highlighting the apathetic and worst socio-economic conditions of Muslims in India, he expressed an urgent need for the government to take concrete measures to eliminate their sense of alienation and bring them into the social and economic mainstream.
He also expressed concern at the emerging trend in the legal fraternity where it denies the terror suspects their fundamental right of an objective trial which amounts to pronouncing judgment without any trial.
