Mumbai : Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who was recovering from an elbow injury, was Friday declared fit for the four-match Test series against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar starting Oct 9 in Bangalore.
Board secretary Niranjan Shah in a statement said Tendulkar was declared fit on the basis of a report submitted by Paul Close, who is the physiotherapist at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
Due to the stiffness in his left elbow, Tendulkar pulled out of Rest of India (ROI) squad from the ongoing Irani Cup tie against Ranji Trophy champions Delhi in Vadodara. Tamil Nadu’s Subramaniam Badrinath replaced him.
Tendulkar suffered the elbow injury during the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo in August and has not played any competitive cricket since then. The 35-year-old also had undergone surgery for tennis elbow in 2005.
