Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) : A 31-year-old garment exporter allegedly shot himself dead in an inebriated state at his residence here on the outskirts of the national capital, police said Sunday.
The incident occurred Saturday night at 21 Devine Apartments in Nyay Khand III, Indirapuram.
Dheeraj Yadav reached home 10.30 p.m. Saturday in an inebriated condition, said Ashutosh Gautam, an officer at Indirapuram police station.
The police officer said Yadav’s wife, who is eight months pregnant, had an altercation with him over his drinking habits.
Thereafter, his wife went to the bathroom. Dheeraj bolted the door from the outside and shot himself in the head with his licensed pistol, the officer said. Yadav had a business unit in Noida.
Gautam said the man’s wife repeatedly knocked on the the door from the inside. She was able to come out only after their five-year-old son Mayank, who was sleeping, opened the door.
Yadav’s father and younger brother were also in the house but in a different room.
Yadav rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police officer said.
