IndianMujahideen.com domain up for sale

By Md. Ali, TwoCircles.net,

Is the name of Indian Mujahideen, the group which claimed responsibility for the Ahmadabad serial blasts, only associated with terror?

Well think again. Because for many it means good business, and who else than Sameer Ansari will agree more with it. This young entrepreneur from Nagpada who owns the website indianmujahidin.com is more than happy cashing on the name of the terror outfit in the cyberspace where the biggest business quotient is curiosity.

The website which was created four days after the Ahmadabad serial blasts is much sough after by the net surfers across the world after the group calling itself Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the Ahmadabad serial bomb blasts on July 26, 2008.

This domain is parked with the registrar which means that Mr. Ansari has not set up the website yet. It is in the market for sale.

In order to have a practical experience I visited the website www.indianmujahideen.com.

Well if you are expecting Quranic Verses dominating the site then you will be disappointed because it is a pure business venture and has no resemblance to the site run by a Jihadi group except the fact that it is a namesake of one.

You will find diverse range of advertisements and links on the site. It ranges from global business and finance, refugee crisis in Darfur, recruitment companies like monsterindia.com, matrimonial sites like bharat matrimony and simplymarry.com, videos from Pakistan, nuclear terrorism and even a link to the Wikipedia entry for the CIA.

Ironically on the site named after Indian Mujahideen you will find links to Indian army and jobs in Indian navy.

I also got to know that 12261 visitors visited the domain so far since last 31 days.

You will also find the site saying that it may be on sale and after clicking on the link you will be asked to file your offer.

Enough of its business aspect. Let’s come to its flip side. If you are expecting Mr. Ansari to be picked up by the ATS then you have guessed right. If not picked up exactly, he was surely summoned by the ATS on September 20, 2008. After being questioned about his company in detail, people who work with him, his business partners, source of funding and many other things he was given clean chit because the ATS didn’t find any thing suspicious.

Sameer is in this business of making and selling websites and runs his 15 months old web hosting company, Samruz IT Services. Whenever any person, place or any name become famous or are in the news for good or bad reasons, his company creates a website on the name and gets it registered with advertising companies. His company has 241 domain names registered so far.

Whatever he has done can be said as an experiment to gain economically from the scourge of terrorism. A person like Sameer Ansari represents the spirit of entrepreneurship in the emerging Indian middle class that does not hesitate to seek benefit from other’s misfortune.
