‘Pakistan to reopen Baghdad embassy’

By IANS,

Islamabad : Pakistan will soon reopen its embassy in Baghdad, a media report Tuesday quoted Qays al-Yaqoubi, Iraq’s ambassador here, as saying.

Speaking to Geo News, he said that Pakistan’s ambassador to Jordan had been making arrangements to reopen the Baghdad embassy and progress on this was expected soon.

This would improve bilateral ties between Iraq and Pakistan, the envoy maintained.

He also expressed the hope that Paksitani President Asif Ali Zardari would visit Iraq next month.

Pakistan had shut its Baghdad mission March 17, 2003, in the wake of the US invasion of Iraq.
