Raipur : An alcoholic burnt his mother to death in a Chhattisgarh village after she opposed his drinking habit, police said Sunday.
Pappu alias Jivrakhan Miri, 25, burnt his 75-year-old mother Shyam Bai Friday in the Khapridih village of Janjgir district, 180 km from capital Raipur.
“It was a most brutal act. Pappu locked his mother in a small room and then set the room on fire Friday night,” Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Kumar Jha told IANS on telephone.
He said Pappu, a daily labourer, Saturday admitted to having committed the crime under the influence of liquor.
