Bhubaneswar : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi deviated from his schedule Wednesday and decided to stay back for the night in an Orissa town after addressing an election meeting there.
The Congress general secretary campaigned for party candidates in the state and later decided to spend the night at Kendrapada town, some 100 km from here. He was scheduled to fly back to Delhi in the evening.
“He wanted to stay. It was not on his programme. We have provided him all the necessary security,” district police chief Kumarmani Meher told IANS.
Gandhi stayed in a hotel with his security personnel and will depart to Delhi Thursday.
