BJP leader demands action against Omar Abdullah

By IANS,

Jammu : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Leela Karan Sharma Friday demanded action against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for an alleged “hate speech”.

Sharma is the BJP candidate for Jammu-Poonch constituency that went to polls Thursday.

Sharma has alleged that Abdullah referred to “burning down of hutments of Gujjars” in his speeches in Muslim dominated parts of Rajouri, part of the Jammu-Poonch constituency on April 13, and tried to blame it on BJP leaders.

“It amounted to generating hate,” Sharma told reporters.

“This is a clear violation of model code of conduct and a clear attempt to communalise the situation in the state,” Sharma said.

“Action should be taken against him as was done in the case of Varun Gandhi,” he said.

BJP leader Varun, a cousin of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, was arrested under National Security Act (NSA) for making a provocative speech in Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.
