New Delhi: The Interpol has issued 147 red corner notices in the past three years on the requests of Indian authorities, who are looking the fugitives abroad for various crimes they have committed back home.
Mullappally Ramachandran, minister of state for home, informed the Lok Sabha that red corner notices have been issued on the request of various investigating agencies forwarded through the Interpol wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in respect of 147 offenders and circulated through Interpol Secretariat General (IPSG) during the last three years.
Ramachandran said a total of 49 red corner notices were issued in 2006, 70 in 2007 and 28 in 2008.
The minister said efforts were being made through diplomatic channels for extradition of the fugitives.
