No swine flu cases in Assam: Chief minister

By IANS,

Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Monday said there were no swine flu cases reported in the state so far, but said 100 doctors were being trained to deal with the virus in case of an outbreak.

“So far no cases of H1N1 were reported in Assam and there is no need for panic,” the chief minister told journalists.

Gogoi said 100 doctors were being specially trained to combat the virus in the event of a swine flu outbreak in the state.

“We cannot be complacent and hence we are getting some 100 doctors trained to deal with the disease,” the chief minister said.

Gogoi’s statement comes in the wake of two students being kept in isolation at a local hospital in Guwahati, even though the samples sent for tests were found to be negative.

“We have enough stock of medicines and we can effectively check the virus in the event of an outbreak in Assam,” the chief minister said.
