Bhubaneswar: A deputy inspector general (DIG) with the paramilitary Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was selected for the President’s Police Medal in Orissa. But when he went to the ceremony to receive his award from Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, his name was not called.
“I was called for the medal. I had come all the way from Bokaro for the medal as the state government had recommended my name for the medal. But I don’t know why my name was not called out,” said DIG Binaytosh Mishra Sunday.
The award ceremony was held Saturday evening.
“I have been selected for the medal. No one can deny my medal. I will get my medal from the CISF,” Mishra told IANS.
Much to his chagrin, two of the three Indian Police Service officers selected for the medal were given the award.
“I don’t know about the incident. I am not aware,” state Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy said.
