Ghaziabad : The Ghaziabad police Sunday arrested three people and with that claimed to have solved the kidnapping case of a city doctor. The police have recovered Rs.16.70 lakh in cash that was paid as ransom.
“A medical representative (MR) Navneet was the brain behind the kidnapping of doctor K.M. Singh. Naveent took the help of four friends from his village and his mother Nirmala Devi and sister Rina alias Raj Rani,” Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar said.
While Navneet, Nirmala Devi and Rina were arrested Sunday, the other four accused Amit, Neeraj, Arun alias Pintu and Shailendra are still absconding.
Singh was kidnapped by Navneet and his accomplices Aug 3 from outside his clinic in Patel Nagar and was taken to Mawana in Meerut and kept in Navneet’s house, police said.
The kidnappers initially demanded Rs.1 crore, but the deal was finally struck at Rs.55 lakhs. After the doctor’s family paid the ransom amount, the doctor was freed Aug 5, police said.
Following information given by Singh, Navneet, Nirmala Devi and Rina were arrested.
