Hisar (Haryana): Two Chinese nationals and three labourers were killed in a thermal power plant accident in this Haryana town Sunday, police said.
According to police, three labourers, two from Punjab and one from West Bengal, and two Chinese supervisors were killed on the spot when heavy iron plates fell on them due to some technical snag in the machine at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Hisar.
The deceased Chinese personnel have been identified as Ligaugahul, 35, and Jaig Genguing, 36.
“Five people, including two Chinese, have been killed whereas three others injured in this thermal power plant mishap,” said Jagbir Singh, investigating officer of the case, here Sunday.
He added: “Police have registered a case against the officials of North-West Power Construction Group of Companies, a Chinese company that is executing this project. In the meantime, Chinese embassy officials were informed and we have sent the bodies for the post-mortem examination.”
There are two mega-power projects, of 600 MW each, under construction at this Rs.43 billion Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Hisar, some 300 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
