Islamabad : The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party Thursday criticised the expulsion of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh from the party for his praise of Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah saying “India still has prejudice and bias” against the country even 62 years after partition.
The PML-N said Singh’s expulsion “shows the real face of India that boasts of great democracy in the world”, the Online news agency reported.
The party said it would not take any step that could create further problems for Jaswant Singh in India. Singh was expelled from the BJP Wednesday for praising Jinnah in his book.
PML-N also alleged “India dreams of conquering Pakistan culturally”.
PML-N chairman Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, addressing a press conference here Thursday, said the “Islamic world is still suffering the effects of Indian propaganda, and after Pakistan’s independence India made several failed attempts to malign Quaid-e-Azam (Jinnah).”
To a question, he said the only mistake of Jaswant Singh was “writing the truth” for which he suffered in his expulsion from the party.
To another query, he said the “atmosphere of bias and prejudice in India is still the same against Pakistan as it was 62 years ago while it claims to be a great champion of democracy.” He also added that there was “no difference between the Congress and BJP because its real face was exposed to the whole world by its expelling Jaswant Singh”.
