Kochi: Abdul Haleem, arrested by the police in connection with the twin blasts in Kozhikode in 2006, has again been sent to police custody. The Judicial First Class Magisterate Court took the decision, taking into account the appeal of the Crime Branch that he was needed for detailed probe. The court also ruled that the accused should be presented back in court in the morning of 29th August after collection of evidences.
D Rajan, Crime Branch DySP, is in charge of the enquiry. He informed the media that Haleem would be taken to Kannur today for enquiry. Haleem has, reportedly, admitted to the police that a test blast was conducted in a place in Kannur before the Kozhikode blasts.
Haleem was arrested by the police in connection with the blast case on July 22. He was remanded by the Judicial First Class Magisterate Court (III) and then sent to police custody for 10 days for enquiry. This is the second time that Haleem is sent to police custody. Haleem, the third accused in the case, was under remand. The blasts took place in the KSRTC and Moffussil bus stands in the city on March 3, 2006.
