New Delhi : Police are investigating whether the 27-year-old suspected LeT operative arrested in the national capital was part of a module planning terror strikes in India’s western state of Maharashtra during the festive season, sources said Wednesday.
Investigations are also on to ascertain whether Yousuf, who was arrested from New Delhi railway station Tuesday, had visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir
Yousuf was caught by Delhi Police’s Special Cell about an hour before he was to board a Nanded-bound train.
He was caught allegedly with four detonators, two timers and two kgs of explosive chemicals.
“We have alerted Maharashtra police about the arrest
However, we are yet to ascertain as to which place in Maharashtra Yousuf was headed to,” a senior police official said.
The arrest comes at a time when people are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi as well as observing fast during the month of Ramadan.
Sources said investigations are yet to ascertain his “exact role”.
