New Delhi : Four men have been arrested here for looting at least three people in less than three hours in the heart of the national capital, police said Tuesday.
Ravi Verma, Parveen Kumar, Sachin and Jamna Ram were arrested Monday for their involvement in the robberies in Connaught Place and nearby areas. A fifth accomplice, Anup Kumar, is at large.
The gang looted two auto-rickshaw passengers of Rs.17,000 near Gymkhana Club around 1.30 a.m. on Nov 30.
The victims were going to the Inter-State Bus Terminal when the accused, who were in black Indica car, halted their auto.
An hour later, the gang struck at Sardar Patel Marg where they stopped a cab and robbed Belgium national Wittock Patrica. They snatched an i-Pod, a camera and a bag from her.
After two hours, the accused robbed Karjigi Palakshi, a Mumbai resident. Palakshi was in a taxi and going to the airport from his hotel. He lost Rs.1,200, a Nokia phone and his bank cards.
The gang forced the man into their van and took him to Daryaganj where they withdrew Rs.50,000 of his money from an ATM.
On Palakshi’s request, the accused left him with Rs.500 and his air ticket to Mumbai on Ranjit Singh flyover, said Additional Commissioner of Police S. Dash.
The police said they had recovered Rs.46,200 and all the looted mobile phones, i-Pod and camera from them.
