New Delhi : Jaiprakash Associates, primarily engaged in the industrial infrastructure sector, Wednesday commissioned a cement facility in Gujarat on an investment of Rs.1,500 crore.
The plant at Sewagram in Kutch district has an annual capacity of 2.4 million tonnes and will generate employment for over 3,000 people, the Jaypee group company said in a statement.
“The demand for cement in the western part of India has been growing and is expected to grow by 10-12 percent in next four to six months,” Jaypee group founder Jaiprakash Gaur said in the statement.
Gaur said the group would expand its total annual capacity from nine million tonnes currently to 35.55 million tonnes by 2012.
It would reach 22.8 million tonnes by the end of this fiscal, he added.
