Bangalore: The team of Girijashankar Joshy and Srikanth Gowda held firmly to their overnight lead to finish with total penalties of four minutes, 40 seconds, and win the professional class and the overall title in the Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare Motorsports Rally.
The event tackled the roads through the plains, winding ghat section and dirt while taking the competitors into interior towns and villages, covering a total of 1,400 km, touching Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
The team of Manju Gowda and Musthafa was placed second with a total penalty of seven minutes, 47 seconds followed by Kathrivel Graja and B. Raja (11 minutes, seven seconds) here Saturday.
In the Novice class, the lead changed several times, and finally the tandem of Juswin, Bonnie, Garlafi and Siju won the first place with a penalty time of 44 minutes, 11 seconds ahead of Prashanth S. and Ramesh Babu (one hour, 12 minutes).
The team of Asha, Nagamnai and Shruti won the honours in the ladies section while finishing 12th overall.
