New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned Tuesday after angry opposition members demanded the tabling of a report on reservations in jobs for Dalit Muslims and Dalit Christians.
The trouble began in Zero Hour as Ali Anwar Ansari and Sabir Ali of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Aziz Pasha and P. Madhu of the Communist Party of India (CPI) advanced to the speaker’s podium demanding that the report of Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission be tabled in the house.
Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan said he was not in a position to direct the government to table the report.
When his repeated appeal for calm fell on deaf ears, Khan adjourned the house at 12.15 p.m. for 15 minutes.
