Malaysian Indian boy pulls Mercedes car

Kuala Lumpur: A six-year-old Malaysian Indian is set to enter the country’s book of records after pulling a 1.67-tonne Mercedes Benz for 120 metres with just a simple harness tied around his waist.

T. Santhosperumal dragged the Mercedes Benz 240E with four adults Friday on a cement tarmac at his father’s workplace, to the applause of thousands who gathered to watch the spectacle at Kampung Jawa in Klang.

The pre-school boy is all of six and likes to be called ‘Santhos 10’ after his favourite cartoon character Ben 10.

Having pulled a car, Santhosperumal now aims to haul an aircraft. The chubby boy hopes AirAsia, Malaysia’s budget airline, will oblige, The Star newspaper said Saturday.

His father N. Thiagu, 42, said the Malaysian Book of Records would include his son as the youngest Malaysian to pull a car.

“Santhos is a very determined boy,” he said. The father added that Santhos could also drive a three-tonne lorry.

“We wanted to record the driving feat in the Malaysian Book of Records but it was rejected as he is a minor. But that did not deter Santhos,” he said.

His mother M. Chelvee said her son would do warm-up exercises that include stretching and breathing before attempting to pull a car.

“He eats five eggs and cereals for breakfast, a whole pot of chilli chicken for lunch and drinks mugs of energy beverages,” she said.
