Ranchi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Sunday said his state was for every Indian and anyone could come there and live without fear.
“Maharashtra is for everyone. Anyone can go to any state. Even Marathi speaking people live in the United States. We believe in the constitution and anyone can arrive in the state and live without fear,” he said at a press conference here, when asked about the attacks by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on people from Bihar and Jharkhand.
On the disrespect shown to the national language Hindi in the state assembly by members of the MNS, he said these legislators have been punished.
To claims that his government was promoting the MNS and “going soft” on its activists, he said the MNS was the “outcome of a dispute in the Bal Thackeray family and there is no question that we are promoting MNS”.
On the various arrest warrants pending against MNS chief Raj Thackeray in Jharkhand, Chavan said action would be taken as per law.
