Bhubaneshwar: Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the ongoing five-match one-day series against India due to an injury.
Mathews strained his right quadricep muscle during his match winning knock of 37 not out in the second one-dayer at Nagpur, which Sri Lanka won by three wickets to level the series 1-1.
Sri Lankan team physio Tommy Simsek is predicting a grade two tear where the healing time is expected take up to four weeks.
All -rounder Thissara Perera will join the squad in India as his replacement, the team website said Saturday.
Mathews is the latest on the list of injured Sri Lankan bowlers. Thilan Thushara, Dammika Prasad, Muttiah Muralitharan and Dilhara Fernando are already back home with injuries.
The third one-dayer will be played at Cuttack Monday.
