New Delhi : In a suspected case of a love affair, five men barged into a home in northeast Delhi and forcibly took away a 16-year-old girl with them after attacking her family members who resisted them, the police said Wednesday.
According to the police, the men, identified as Ashraf, Yamin, Mukesh, Faizan and Waseem, came to the girl’s Khazoori Khas in a Tata SUV car late Tuesday.
The victim was at home with her parents Pramod and Geeta and brother Ravi.
The five men, reportedly known to the family, attacked Ravi with a sharp-edged weapon when he resisted the abduction.
He suffered injuries on his neck and legs. The attacker also manhandled Pramod’s parents before taking away the girl in their car. Ravi was admitted to the Bara Hindu Rao Hospital.
The police said Ashraf, who runs a hair-cutting saloon in the area, and the teenager girl had developed some relations as their families stayed in the same locality.
“The girl had gone missing from her house in October last year. And after a month we traced her in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh and arrested one person,” said a police officer.
“At that time, the family had named Ashraf behind the kidnapping, but he had gone missing. We have registered a fresh case and are conducting raids at many places,” the officer added.
