Four bodies recovered from snow avalanche in Kashmir

By IANS,

Srinagar : The bodies of three villagers and a policeman were recovered Sunday four days after they were buried under tonnes of snow in Kashmir, the police said. Six people, including the policeman, were buried under an avalanche during Thursday’s heavy snowfall at Zadgali near the border village of Machil in frontier Kupwara.

Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Indian Army and the police conducted rescue and search operations in the area and succeeded in rescuing two civilians.

However, the four could not be rescued as the area experienced season’s heaviest snowfall that hampered the search efforts.

The bodies have been handed over to the relatives, according to police.
