BRUSSELS : The third innterparliamentary meeting between the European Parliament and the parliament of Afghanistan, Wolesi Jirga, began here Tuesday to discuss the overall situation in Afghanistan.
During their 3-day visit to the EP, the Afghan deputies will also talk about the military presence of EU countries in Afghanistan, said an EP statement.
Several EU countries have a military presence in Afghanistan as part of the two military operations, Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
This military presence will be discussed on Wednesday with NATO representatives and some European defence ministers.
The 10-member Afghan delegation is led by Salih Mohammad Saljoqi, MP from Herat, Secretary of, Wolesi Jirga.
