New Delhi: Maulana Fuzail Ahmad Qasmi, general secretary of Markazi Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, a breakaway of Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind, passed away last night at AIIMS in New Delhi. He was 60.
After primary education in his native town Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, he came to Darul Uloom Deoband and got education up to Fazilat. While he was a student ad Deoband he worked as secretary of Uttar Pradesh Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind.
A devotee of Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani, Maulana Fuzail Ahmad Qasmi worked with Maulana Asad Madani for establishing Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind. He played an important role in introducing Maulana Asad Madani in areas which did not know him. At one time Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind was very weak in Mumbai, Maulana Fuzail was sent there. He stayed there for months and revived the organization. For the cause Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind he also travelled to England, Africa, Saudi Arab and Canada.
In 1991, however, for some reasons he parted ways with Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind and Maulana Asad Madani. Within six months he established Markazi Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind and made it a known Muslim organization. Its headquarters is in Jamia Nagar.
