New Delhi : Six unidentified armed robbers gunned down a 34-year-old cashier and injured two others before looting Rs.450,000 from a wine shop in east Delhi, the police said Wednesday.
According to the police, the gunmen entered through the partially opened shutters of the wine shop in Krishna Nagar market around 11.15 p.m.
The robbers first tried to snatch the cash from cashier Ashok Kumar and two other employees in the shop.
Facing resistance from Ashok Kumar, who was counting the cash collected after the day’s sale, one of robbers pulled out a gun and fired two shots at him. The men hit the two other employees on their heads with gun buts.
The police said the assailants then fled with the cash. Ashok, who suffered bullet injury in the stomach, died at the Hedgewar hospital. His two colleagues were discharged after the primary treatment.
“We have registered a case and are inquiring into the matter,” said a police officer.
