Mumbai: In line with minority welfare measures being announced by governments on the eve of election parva, the Congress-NCP combine Maharashtra government has issued an ordinance paving way for funds reach madrasas registered with the state Waqf Board.
With the ordinance the central government sponsored scheme Quality Improvement in Madrassa Education, previously known as Madarsa Modernization Programme will come into force in Maharashtra also too.
Some of the salient features of the scheme are as follows: The madrasas having at least ten students will be given a full time graduate teacher for imparting modern education. The teachers will be given a monthly salary of Rs 4000. The salaries of the post-graduate teachers will be Rs 12,000. Moreover, for the libraries of madrasas, book bank and teaching aids, an annual fund of Rs 50,000 will also be available. Rs 15,000 grant will be given for aids needed for science, math and other such subjects.
The madrasas providing education up to secondary or higher secondary levels will be given one Rs one lakh for computer and science workshops.
Students of madrasas will get benefit from the professional courses provided by National Institute of Open Schooling but they will have to pay registration fee under the scheme.
The teachers appointed for teaching modern education to the high school students, will be given at lest 15-day training through various training camps and for this training a daily allowance of Rs 100 per teacher will be given.
Besides, every year Rs five lakh grant will be given for state Madrasa Board.
