Lucknow : Busting a major railway recruitment racket, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested as many as 105 persons in Jaipur and six persons in Bhopal, a senior police official said Sunday.
These include 16 persons involved in the operation of the racket, while the rest were all applicants. How many of the 16 were railway employees was not clear so far.
STF chief Brij Lal said: “We were working on this for the past two months after we exposed a similar racket in Allahabad. Taking the leads from our informers, we unearthed the involvement of the same operators in leaking out question papers of an exam for recruitment of assistant station masters by the Railway Recruitment Board, Ajmer.”
“We caught these operators red-handed yesterday (Saturday) while they were preparing the applicants with the leaked question papers at a hideout in Jaipur, from where they had also made special arrangements for taking the select applicants to Ajmer for the exam on Sunday,” he added.
Most of the applicants were found to be hailing from Bihar – the home state of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad.
