Chhattisgarh call centre helps tone public distribution system

By IANS,

Raipur : A call centre set up by the Chhattisgarh government is helping it tone up its public distribution system and ensure food availability to all the PDS beneficiaries, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punnulal Mohile said Tuesday.

He said about 2,700 complaints of irregularities in the public distribution system have been received by the call centre since it was set up a year ago.

“A total of 2,685 complaints were received at the call centre set up here at the civil supplies department on January 21, 2008. The government has acted urgently and disposed off all complaints except 27 in which FIRs have been lodged in different regions,” Mohile said.

“The government takes each and every call very seriously. In fact, such calls have made the government’s task much easier to effectively monitor the PDS system in the entire state,” he said.
