Mumbai: The widow of late Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare, Kavita Karkare has demanded that Amir Ajmal Kasab, the lone captured terrorist in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, should be hanged at earliest. She made the demand in a letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.
She is reported to have written that Kasab should be tried and hanged as soon as possible because any delay in this may fuel unnecessary strive and will be dangerous for the country.
Noticeably a month ago Kavita Karkare had said in an interview that her daughter wanted Kasab to be forgiven and given one more chance. Kavita Karkare had supported the daughter’s view.
In the letter she has also complained of inefficiency of arms available with the security officers. She said that our police who have only sticks cannot fight the terrorists equipped with sophisticated weapons. ‘That only a few days after Mumbai terror attack the Naxalites killed 15 police officers in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, compelled me to write the letter,’ she said.
Besides, she demanded from the state government to manage better education and living for the family of the security officers.
She has thanked the state government for honoring the martyrs of Mumbai terror attack with Ashok Chakras.
