New Delhi : A 21-year-old student died in mysterious circumstances after she was found unconscious at her friend’s house here, the police said Saturday, adding it appeared to be a case of suicide but foul play was also not being ruled out.
Aruna Chatterjee, who was living with her parents in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area, was found unconscious at her friend Pritish’s house in Paryavaran Vihar in New Ashok area of east Delhi.
According to the police, Aruna, a second year student of I.P. College, had gone to Pritish’s house Friday morning. She was working as an intern in a media house in Noida.
“She called Pritish on his mobile phone as he was not at home. He told her to wait inside as she had the keys. When he got home, he found Aruna lying on the floor with froth coming out of her mouth,” said a police officer.
“He immediately took her to a nearby hospital. But she died during her treatment,” the officer added.
The police said Pritish lived alone in the apartment and both knew each other for quite a long time.
The police said Aruna could have ended her life by consuming poison but nothing was confirmed as the autopsy report was awaited.
“We are not ruling out any foul play in the matter. It also seems that there could have been some problems in their relations. The matter is being probed from all angles,” the police officer said.
