New Delhi : The Congress party Monday said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was getting “nightmares” due to the sustained campaigning by Rahul Gandhi in his state, and his statements against the Congress general secretary showed his frustration and desperation.
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here, “Modi is highly insecure and frustrated.”
“Modi’s statement calling Rahul Gandhi an aquarium fish shows that he believes in ‘matsya nyaya’ (jungle law) and is living in the jungle law, where the powerful swallow the weaker,” Singhvi said, reacting to Modi Sunday describing Rahul Gandhi as a ‘small fish’ in an aquarium.
Modi, at a rally in Goa, took a dig at the young Congress MP, saying: “We are not small fish floating around in the comfort of aquariums, but we weather huge storms to win.”
“We are not flowers cultivated by gardeners of the rich. We have grown up in the forests on our own,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.
Singhvi said the sustained campaigning by Gandhi in Gujarat was “giving nightmares” to Modi and causing him more frustration, and such statements only served to show his desperation.
Gandhi was on a two-day tour of north Gujarat districts of Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and other areas from Saturday during which he interacted with the people.
