Islamabad : Pakistan Thursday hoped the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would share with Islamabad, during the visit here next month of its director, the findings of its probe into the Mumbai terror attacks.

FBI Director Robert Mueller will lead a seven-member team to Pakistan March 4, foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said.

“We understand that they have helped India in their investigations (into the Nov 26-29, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks) and we hope they will assist us by way of providing any further information or intelligence they may have,” Basit told reporters.

He parried a question if the FBI team would be provided access to the six Lashkar-e-Taiba activists arrested on charges of involvement in the Mumbai attacks.

The arrested activists include LeT comanders Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and Zarar Shah. All of them are currently in the Federal Investigation Agency’s custody.

“This matter relates to details and at this point, as I said earlier, we are looking forward to his visit and we hope they would also assist us,” Basit said.

He said Pakistan was looking forward to a timely and comprehensive response from India on 30 questions that Islamabad had given to it on the Mumbai terror attacks in response to the Indian dossier on the carnage pointing to the involvement of elements from this country in the mayhem.

Pakistan’s interior ministry Wednesday set a mid-March deadline for India to respond to the 30 questions.
