Gaza : Explosions, smoke and incredible figures of victims were a common scene in Gaza on Saturday because of Israeli bombings, as Hamas predicted fuerce resistance and Muslim nations are trying to check the carnage.
Entering its second week, the Israeli aggression has included so far about 700 air and sea attacks against the small, densely populated Gaza Strip, resulting in 437 people killed and another 2,250 wounded, mostly civilians, according to medical and UN sources.
The precarious humanitarian situation, worsened even before the bombings because of the 18-months US siege of Gaza, is more evident with the lack of food, medicine, fuel and other items, despite the sending of supplies from abroad, amid the lack of safety due to indiscriminate Israeli raids.
Today, fliers were dropped from Israeli planes, inciting the population to evacuate certain areas and refugee camps in anticipation of bombings similar to those killing Thursday a Hamas leader and all his family.
Tel Aviv allowed yesterday more than 400 foreigners or Palestinians carrying foreign passports to leave through the Erez checkpoint, but other border crossings remain blocked and that in Rafah has only allowed the passage of some of the wounded.
In fact, Hamas leader in Syria, Khaled Meshaal conditioned an understanding with Israel to an immediate cessation of the bombings, the lifting of the blockade and the opening of all border crossings.
In a tape released by Qatar’s Al Jazeera channel, Meshaal warned Israelis that “a dark fate awaits them if they invade Gaza, as it is clear we will not surrender or yield to the enemy.”
