Israel continues killing Palestinians in Gaza

By KUNA,

Gaza : Israel continued Tuesday, for the eleventh day in a row, its assault on Gaza Strip killing and injuring scores of people and destroying many homes and a mosque.

On Tuesday, an Israeli attack demolished a four-storey residential building in Al-Zaitoun district in Gaza City, killing and injuring 30 Palestinians, including 12 children, and destroying dozens of nearby homes.

Israeli planes also destroyed a home of a Palestinian in Jabalia camp, killing one of his sons and two of his neighbors and injuring the rest of his family, in addition to bombarding 10 houses in Al-Bureij camp, injuring scores of people.

Many more Palestinians were killed and injured in Israeli air raids on three homes in Khan Younis in south Gaza, local radio stations said.

After people gathered around a home that was hit by a rocket in Al-Amal district, an Israeli plane fired another rocket at it, killing and wounding more Palestinians, the stations added.

Israeli planes also fired rockets at Hasan Al-Banna Mosque in Jabalia camp, destroying it and injuring several Palestinians.

In addition, two members of Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, were killed Tuesday morning when Israeli planes fired missiles at them as they clashed with an Israeli special forces unit on the coast of Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza Strip.

The Israeli bombardment of Gaza early Tuesday forced thousands of Palestinians in Jabalia, Beit Lahya, and Beit Hanoun to evacuate their homes and seek refuge in schools of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in the Near East (UNRWA).

On the Israeli side, spokesman of the Israeli Army claimed that one Israeli was wounded, though not seriously, when a rocket fired from Gaza hit a home in Gedera settlement on Tuesday.

Three other Palestinian rockets targeted Ashkol settlement and another fell on Netivot settlement, without causing casualties, he said.

In addition to developments that occurred Tuesday, several announcements were made on Monday night’s toll.

It was announced that a total of 13 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air raids on Al-Bureij and Deir Al-Balah Monday evening, while more than five were killed and many others were injured when Israeli ships fired missiles at homes in Deir Al-Balah.

It was also announced that another raid killed two Palestinians, injured several others, and damaged many homes and that several homes were demolished and Palestinians were killed in the Israeli air raids in Rafah city.

The Israeli Army said Tuesday three Israeli soldiers were killed and 29 others were injured Monday evening in Gaza.

An army spokesman told Radio Israel that three soldiers were killed and 24 others were injured when an Israeli tank mistakenly fired a shell at them during an attack on Gaza city, indicating a “friendly fire” incident.

The spokesman also confirmed the injury of five other Israeli soldiers in battle in Gaza Strip.

Moreover, he said three rockets hit Ashkol and three fell in Ashkelon Monday night without causing casualties or damage, adding that the total number of Palestinian rockets that targeted Israel on Monday was about 40.
