Rehabilitate Muslim youths acquitted of terror charges: Tasleem Rahmani

By Mumtaz Alam Falahi, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: “If there is not an undeclared emergency against the Muslim community, the government should immediately stop the malicious campaign of arresting and implicating Muslim youths in false cases of terrorism,” said Dr Tasleem Rahmani, president, Muslim Political Council of India.

He was talking to TwoCircles.net on the sidelines of press conference he had called to tell the media about the facts related to Talha Amir, the Azamgarh youth who was picked by Maharashtra ATS last month for his alleged role in terror acts but was released on bail after two weeks as they did not find any evidence against him.

“The government must rehabilitate the youths who have been acquitted of terror charges in Hyderabad and other parts of the country because their detention has destroyed their career. The government should give them government jobs” Dr Tasleem Rahmani said adding that “If our demands are not met we will launch a nationwide campaign. We are ready to go jails for our demands.”

“We consider as national hero the youths acquitted of terror charges. They suffered atrocities at the hand of the government and did not take arms. We will field these youths in assembly and parliamentary elections if they were not rehabilitated properly” Dr Rahmani said.

Asked if the atrocities against the Muslims in the name of terrorism in last 4-5 years in Congress party rule will become an election issue and the community will search for an alternative to the Congress, he said yes the community is already making up their mind for the alternative.

Giving details about Talha in the press conference he said: On the very first day of his arresting the security agencies said Talha was working as a module between Indian Mujahedeen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, he has been in contact with those absconding from the Batla House flat where the encounter took place. He was projected as a SIMI member and accused of involved in Delhi and Mumbai blasts. But after interrogating him for 13 days in Mumbai neither the Mumbai Crime Branch nor any ATS team from states like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh could find any evidence against him. They told the Nagpur court on January 3 that they did not want to keep him on further police remand as they had no more allegations against him. As a result he was released on bail.

“Maulana Amir Rashadi, convenor of Uttar Pradesh Ulema Council, strongly raised his voice against the Batla House encounter. To silence his voice and to demoralize him his 22-year-old son, who was on way to Hyderabad to join his office, was arrested and implicated in false cases,” Dr Rahmani said.

He lambasted the security and intelligence agencies and national media, both electronic and print, for accusing innocent Muslim youths in terror cases without any proof and presenting them as hardcore terrorists before the nation. And when the same youths are acquitted they turn silent.

“I am sure there is not a single Muslim terrorist in the country but I think that the government, through terrorizing Muslim youths, implicating him in false cases and launching atrocities against them, is trying to create some real terrorists out of them. This is a conspiracy of the government against the Muslim community,” he asserted.

To press for their demands, the Uttar Pradesh Ulema Council and Muslim Political Council is going to organize a massive rally in Delhi on January 29, in which thousands of Muslims from Azamgarh will take part. Hundreds of youths acquitted of terror charges in Dlehi, Mumbai Hyderabad and Azamgarh will also participate in the rally, Dr Rahmani said.
