New Delhi: The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has reaffirmed that its plan for entry into electoral politics is on when Kerala JIH chief T Arif Ali in a public gathering in Calicut on January 10 snubbed those who are criticizing its political plan.

He said the entry of JIH into the political realm of the country cannot be stopped through mere rumor mongering. “Jamaat had acted creatively in Indian politics from the early times of emergency” he said and came down heavily on those religious and secular groups who are opposing the entry of Jamaat into the politics.

He was addressing a huge gathering of Solidarity Youth Movement, the youth wing of JIH Kerala. The conference based on the theme “Youth is for struggle” was attended by more than 25,000 people including thousands of women, says a release.

While rejecting the western approach that distances religious values from public spheres, T Arif Ali said: “Jamaat always tries to get light from the divine book that could be expanded according to the civilizational progresses.”

O Abdurahaman, Editor of popular Madhyamam daily, stressed on the need of political activism based on peace and justice.

The dignitaries who featured the programme included renowned activist C R Neelakantan, JIH Statae Secretary K K Zuhra, Solidarity Youth Movement State President P Mujeeb Rahman, GRO Vasu, K Ajitha, Adv Thomas, V Kunhali, P N Das, Rafi Puthiya Kadvu, P C Basheer, S Qamarudheen, T Mohammed, K Mohammed Najeeb, Khalid Moosa Nadwi, Abdu Razak Paleri and T K Juman.
