Teachings of Quran can eliminate social evils: Chander Bhan Khayal

By RINA

New Delhi: Practicing the teachings of Quran can eliminate social evils like casteism and discrimination, said Chander Bhan Khayal, vice-chairman of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, in a programme in New Delhi.

Speaking in daylong seminar on ‘Quran and Science’, organized at Ghalib Academy under auspices of United Muslims of India, Chander Bhan Khayal said: “We can eliminate the prevailing curses like casteism, shortsightedness and discriminations based on race and colour by putting the Qur’an in practice.”

In his presidential address, Prof. Abdul Haq said, “Today, there are people in the world occupied with the idea to distance Muslims from the Holy Qur’an so that they could become wayward after dissociating with spirituality.” He further said, “For establishing peace and security in the world, there is no other means better than the Holy Qur’an. Every possible effort should be made to understand it.”

Giving detailed explanations of several relevant verses of the Holy Qur’an, the chief guest Abdul Majeed Parikh said, “This is due to lack of concern for the Hereafter and diminishing moral standards that evil has overpowered us.”

On this occasion, Mr. Chander Bhan Khayal and Mohammad Khaleel, a popular science writer, were awarded for their services in the field of science journalism in Urdu language.
