Police official hampering probe, CBI tells court

By IANS,

New Delhi : A senior Delhi Police officer, who is alleged to have framed two people as militants, was hampering the investigation in the case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday informed a city court.

Additional Sessions Judge S.K. Gautam took cognisance of the CBI application and slated the matter for Jan 19.

Earlier, the agency had contended before the court that fresh investigations were needed in the matter.

The Delhi Police Special Cell had arrested Moarif Qamar and Irshad Ali from the G.T. Karnal Road in north Delhi with the help of an Intelligence Bureau official in February 2006. The cell said the two were Al Badr militants.

However, the CBI in its probe found nothing adverse against them and termed them as innocent.
