Mideast researcher: Arab regimes part of Israeli aggressions

London, Jan 17, IRNA — A researcher of Islamic studies has condemned Arab states for their apathy towards the incursion of Israel in Gaza, saying they are in fact part of the aggression against the Palestinians.

Saeed Shehabi told IRNA some Arab states have collaborated with the Israeli regime in its attacks against the innocent people of Gaza.

“It is no longer secret that the aggression against Palestinians came two days after the notorious meeting between the Israeli foreign minister and the Egyptian president. They want to root out the resistance movement,” he said.
Shehabi noted that Arab regimes have failed to persuade the United States to abandon its support for Israel.

He urged Arab regimes particularly those oil-rich nations alongside the Persian Gulf to stop oil exports to the West until the aggression stops.

He said Israelis are not only attacking military sites in Gaza but also they are adopting tactics to create “fear and shock” in the minds of the civilians by distributing thousands of leaflets among the Gazans.

“They are attacking schools and mosques. They are targeting hospitals and ambulances. And more than a quarter of those killed are children. This is a very indiscriminate and disproportionate attack to destroy Hamas,” he said.

Shehabi said that European countries including the United Kingdom have also failed to take actions against Israel to stop massacring the people of Gaza.

“We were expecting the British government to take a tougher action against Israel than they did in the 33-day war between Israel and Lebanon. But they again remained silent on Israeli atrocities in Gaza,” he said.

Shehabi noted that the United Nations Security Council resolutions will not stop Israel from attacking Gaza and the Palestinian lands.

He said all countries should become united and impose sanctions on the Israeli regime.
“European countries should withdraw their ambassadors from Tel Aviv. The whole world should threaten Israel with cutting economic and diplomatic ties if it does not stop bombarding Gaza,” he said.

Shehabi said practical steps should be also taken to prevent future aggressions against the people of Palestine.
