New Delhi : As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh undergoes bypass surgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Saturday, political leaders wished for his good health and speedy recovery.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K Advani said: “We have been worried for him and I wish for his speedy recovery.”
Wishing him good health, Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee said: “I am sure he will soon be able to resume the normal activities and continue to lead the nation to its full glory”.
The Congress party also wished good health to the prime minister. “We wish that he recovers fast and recovers to victory,” Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari told reporters here.
When asked as to who will discharge the duties of the prime minister, Tiwari said: “The Congress party would decide according to the precedence and whatever would be the decision it would be announced to you.”
Union Water Resources Minister Saifudding Soz, who visited the prime minister at AIIMS, said: “He is doing fine and will get back to work soon.”
The Left parties, once ally of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), also wished speedy recovery for Singh.
“I have heard and I am slightly concerned about it. I wish things go well,” leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) D. Raja said.
