New Delhi : News websites are flooded with messages from Indians across the country praying for the speedy recovery of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, while he was undergoing a heart surgery here Saturday.
The prime minister was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Friday after he felt uneasy at his 7 Race Course residence.
As an 11-member doctors’ team performed the operation at the AIIMS Saturday, messages wishing him speedy recovery poured in non-stop on websites like ibnlive.in, ndtv.com, hindustantimes.com and indiatoday.in from nooks and corners of the country.
“The entire nation is praying for the success of the surgery and your speedy recovery. In a nation filled with self-serving politicians, it is for the first time after independence that we have got an honest prime minister who really thinks for his country and not for his own good,” read a message posted on ibnlive.com.
While many people are visiting gurudwaras and other religious places to pray for Manmohan Singh, Amritsar-based Kartar Singh has sent his message for the prime minister through India Today’s website.
“He is a gentleman. I pray for his good health. There are only a few people in the Congress party who are really active and doing their job seriously. Singh is one of them and we are proud of him,” wrote Kartar Singh.
The Internet has become a powerful tool for people to express their concern.
Addressing the prime minister, Ravi Sardana from Delhi wrote: “India continues to grow under your guidance and direction. We still have a long way to go and need your experience and shoulders to carry it further. We hope you will recover fast and continue being our guide for another term.”
An anonymous netizen, who posted his message on ndtv.com, said: “A person like our honourable prime minister should live longer and stay healthy. Services of such honest persons are really required for our country. May God bring him back to normal health soon.”
