Melbourne : Troubled Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds will make his return to first-class cricket from injury for Queensland’s Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia at the Gabba, Friday.
The selection gives the controversial 33-year-old Queenslander one last chance to prove his form and fitness before the Test squad is selected for next month’s South Africa tour.
Symonds has also been charged by Cricket Australia (CA) and will face a disciplinary hearing here Thursday over a radio interview in which he called New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum a “lump of s..t”.
Queensland have also recalled pace spearhead Ashley Noffke, who is returning from a lingering back problem.
Fringe Australian one-day paceman Ryan Harris has been selected in the 12-man squad after he was released from the national team.
