Hamas hails Turkey PM’s stand at Davos

By DPA,

Gaza City : The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas Friday hailed Turkey’s Prime Minister Tayyib Erdogan’s stand at the World Economic Forum in Davos, describing it as “brave”.

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a published statement that “Hamas hails the brave position of Prime Minister Tayyib Erdogan in which he defended the victims of the criminal Zionist (Israeli) war waged against our children, women and people in Gaza in front of all the people present at the Davos Forum and in the presence of the head of the evil Zionist Shimon Peres”.

He said that Erdogan’s “withdrawal from the hall and meeting is a victory for the victims of the Fakhoura school and thousands of injured, martyrs and victims of this Zionist holocaust and in support of the Palestinian cause”.

According to the Gaza-based Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at least 1,285 Palestinians were killed in the three-week offensive, the highest death toll in at least four decades of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza puts the death toll at more than 1,400.

According to PCHR, nearly 70 percent of the dead were civilians.

Over 40 people taking refugee at the UN-run Fakhoura school in Jabalya were killed by a shell fired by Israeli tanks.

Barhoum said that “the Zionist occupies are still planning more massacres and terrorism against our people and are using international forums to sell their crimes and terrorism”.
