Ghaziabad lawyer’s house burgled of jewellery worth Rs.1 million

By IANS,

Ghaziabad : Jewellery worth about Rs.1 million was burgled from the house of a lawyer here after the residents were bolted inside their bedrooms while they slept, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred late Friday night in the posh Rajnagar area of Ghaziabad, police said.

“The house of Yogendra Singh was burgled late Friday when the family had retired to their bedrooms. Singh, his son Siddharth Chaudhary, daughter-in-law Deepti were in the house at the time of the incident. Singh’s wife had gone to the US. The burglars bolted the bedrooms from outside, and ransacked the other rooms,” a police officer said.

“In the morning, when Singh found his room bolted from outside, he shouted for his son, who somehow managed to get out through the window and open the doors. When they discovered the burglary, they called the police control room,” the police officer added.

Singh told IANS: “Although my wife knows the details of the jewellery in the house, I think, roughly the loss would be somewhere around Rs.10 lakh (Rs.1 million) which includes my daughter-in-law’s jewellery.”

Circle officer Rajesh Bharti said: “We have registered the case and finger prints have been taken from the spot. We hope to solve the case soon.”
