Mulayam’s real face is uncovered now: Azam Khan

By IANS,

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) : Ousted Samajwadi Party leader Mohammed Azam Khan has hit back at party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying he had lost the right to call himself secular, and demanded a probe into the SP’s alleged use of black money in elections.

Khan called Mulayam Singh Yadav a political fraud who first deceived the Left parties by breaking their alliance and then the “secular forces” by joining hands with Kalyan Singh, a rebel leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“Mulayam Singh’s real face has now appeared before the masses. He has lost the right of calling himself a secular and socialist,” Khan told a huge gathering of his supporters here Friday night.

Khan, who held the post of SP national general secretary, had repeatedly criticised the party leadership, especially general secretary Amar Singh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. He was particularly angry at the party nominating actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada from the Rampur constituency.

After her win, the party sacked Khan.

He said he had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Mayawati to order a Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the SP’s use of black money for election campaign in Rampur.

“The outcome of the inquiry would unveil the character of the person holding pivotal position in the SP,” said Khan.

Khan said when the Congress, heading the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at centre, was ignoring Muslims’ interests, the SP was the only ray of hope to struggle on that front but Mulayam Singh Yadav had lost the faith of the minority community and that is proved by election results.

“Mulayam Singh has embraced that former BJP stalwart on whose role even the ‘saffron party’ has expressed shame,” he said.

Khan also accused Mulayam Singh Yadav of promoting ‘dynasty rule’ by nominating his son Akhilesh Yadav as state president of the party, brother Shivpal Singh Yadav as leader of the opposition in the Uttar Pradesh assembly and allotting an important position to his close relative Ram Gopal Yadav.

“Mulayam Singh in his new avatar is not ready to accommodate in the Samajwadi Party even a single person of any other Gotra (clan),” he added.
